Relationship Satisfaction and Attributıon Types Relationship: The Mediating Role of Positive and Negative Emotion

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediator role of positive and negative affect in the relationship between attributions and relationship satisfaction. The study was carried out with 261 individuals (199 females, 62 male). The variables of the study were measured with Demographic Information Form, Relationship Satisfaction Scale, Positive-Negative Affect Scale, Relationship Attribution Measure. In order to analyze the data, the relationships between the variables of the study were examined primarily by Pearson Moment Product Correlation. Consistent with expectations, significant relationships were found between the variables of the study. To test the main aim of the study, mediation analyses were carried out by using HAYES PROCESS. The results revealed that positive and negative affect partially mediated the relationship between attributions and relationship satisfaction. According to the results, negative affect partially mediated the relationship between casual attributions and relationship satisfaction. Also, positive and negative affect partially mediated the relationship between attribution of responsibility and relationship satisfaction. The results are discussed in terms ofrelated theories and earlier research findings.
