The current study aims to reveal the general status of social media addiction research in students published in journals indexed in Scopus. In the selection of the studies, attention was paid to the fact that they were related to social media addiction in students, that they were in the article category, that they were in English and Turkish languages, and that they were open access. Publications in open-access journals written in Turkish and English languages were analyzed from 1032 documents obtained from the identification made using the Scopus database. In this way, 849 articles were included in the analysis. Publications are concentrated in the “International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health”, with “Institute of Psychology, Elte” playing a central role in the analysis of co-authors for inter-institutional collaboration. While “Demetrovics, Zsolt” stands out in co-authorship, the most cited institution is “Institute of Psychology, Elte Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary” and the most cited author is Griffiths M. D.. Demetrovics, Zsolt are at the center of the cluster formed as a result of the bibliometric link analysis between the authors. The most frequently used keywords are social media addiction, adolescents, problematic social media use, social media and academic performance.
