In this study, the comparison of certain differences of the solution-focused approach in trauma intervention with other approaches that emphasize the importance of focusing on trauma experience directly has been targeted. Besides, an examination of the certain differences of the mentioned two different approaches via related literature has been aimed. It is thought that the topic is worth examining regarding clinical practice and the potential to lead future research. In this study, the traditional review method that covers the examination of existing knowledge and findings regarding determined topics has been used. Hence, the process that followed is the examination of the related literature, making comparisons and drawing conclusions via handled knowledge. According to the examined information, even though the traditional approaches argue the importance of talking about the details of the trauma, the literature that points out the effectiveness of solution-focused approaches that focus on exceptional times and accomplishments of the client after the trauma experience emphasizes the importance of solution-focused approach for trauma cases. Besides, in the literature, the possible adverse negative outcomes of traditional trauma-focused interventions have been highlighted. When the potential of trauma exposure to create adverse mood conditions with overwhelming feelings of helplessness and/or hopelessness is considered, it became obvious that the solution-focused approach, -which focuses on the construction of hope and empowering the client- would be more beneficial for the most of the cases. Besides, the effectiveness studies in the related literature regarding trauma interventions via solution-focused approach are parallel with this conclusion.
