It is known that CBT gives effective results on many disorders. The aim of this study is to examine the basic concepts of the CBT approach which is developed by Aaron Temkin Beck with the help of movie analysis and to create a sampling for its practice. In the research, the movie which is named ‘Blow’ was examined. The movie which is made in the USA in 2001 was adapted from real life and was starring actors such as Johnny Depp, Penélope Cruz and Franka Potente. The movie is about the story of cocaine smuggler George Jung, which begins when he left his life behind and moved to America. In addition, the movie includes collapse period of George who is the one of the drug dealers. In this study, an exemplification was attempted in the framework of CBT techniques and film analysis in the treatment of substance addiction. This study aims that to exemplify the CBT approach and the negative consequences of substance use by using film analysis. The movie 'Blow' is one of the remarkable films of its time, and it is thought that explaining the basic concepts of CBT through the movie watched by large masses will contribute to the field in this study. In this study, a limited number of basic concepts of CBT have been examined, and movies that can set examples for other cognitive structures in the future can be analyzed, presented as examples to theories in lessons, and can provide a different perspective while looking at the problems of the clients.
